Fully Automatic Installation
What is FAI?[edit]
- FAI is an automated system to install Linux
- FAI does everything a system administrator has to do, before a user can log into a brand new compiter
- A set of scripts and config files for a fully automated installation
- It can install and configure the whole OS and all software packages
FAI is an automated installation tool to install or deploy Debian GNU/Linux and similar distributions on a Linux Cluster or a bunch of different hosts. It's similar but more flexible than other tools like kickstart for RedHat, autoyast and alice for SuSE or Jumpstart for SUN Solaris.
